Dreams take you beyond the present
Bruno Maximus and Hypnorealism
Born in 1970, Bruno Maximus is the master of the hypnotic, dreamlike reality — hypnorealism. Bruno showed talent early on, creating portraits at age of 12. He learned his masterful technique under private tutelage, and has followed his own path since, remaining somewhat of an outsider to the establishment. As a full-time artist, he has delved deep in to the world of dreams to find his inspiration. Currently based in Finland, Bruno Maximus has also lived and worked in Australia, Brazil, England and Hungary.
Hypnorealism - the dreamlands
What if dreams were true? A third of your lifetime is spent asleep. And in dreams you are free to explore, see, and experience things that transcend the everyday. Dreams follow their own logic. That's where hypnorealism comes from. It is magical, dreamlike realism. Far beyond the angst of neosurrealism, beyond fantasy or naivism, Bruno Maximus's art is meant to touch the good feelings inside us.
Paintings from the land of living dreams.

The ideas for Bruno Maximus's works stem from the realm of dreams. The ever-present question of "what if" is answered in the paintings and the short stories behind each work. Flying objects, people floating in the air, soft, round shapes and fuller-figure bodies, even household items in deep discussion. Anything can come by in a dream world. These scenes often lend themselves to Bruno’s work.
But it’s not all just dreams. Intermingled in the scenery and themes there are the countless experiences from Bruno Maximus’s journeys and explorations across the globe.
Loosen your ties, we're entering dreamscapes
The true nature of my art is .... "In my paintings and other works my message is for people to kick back and relax - it's time to lose the poker face." The message is positive, and a deep sense for the irrational and humorous permeates Bruno's work. Life is far too interesting to be spent in just the daily drag. "Dreamscapes are my inspiration; I paint what I dream. Sometimes it's just a single detail from a dream, sometimes so much more. And the land of dreams truly opened up after I learned to fly.”
Art is meant to touch people, but far too often it does this by merely shocking. Bruno Maximus follows his compass and his dreams through the fantastic, to where only a free mind can take you. The dreamscapes of Hypnorealism.
